A cup of cocoa or hot chocolate is a wonderful mid-morning or bed time drink for many of us and most of us drink it ‘as it comes’. However, have you thought about experimenting with organic essential oils to add a unique flavour to your drink? We experimented with two drops of cinnamon essential oil in our hot chocolate this morning and it tasted fab. You only need to add about 1 drop of essential oil per cup of hot chocolate that you’re making to get a hint of the flavour. Any more and you’re in danger of overpowering the chocolate flavour rather than enhancing it.
Other organic essential oils we’d recommend you try in your cocoa or chocolate drink are peppermint, sweet orange, palmarosa and nutmeg. Remember, add one drop at a time and taste before adding any more.
